Hi, I'm Samuel
I grew up near Zurich, Switzerland, and studied at the “Fachklasse für Grafik Design“ in Lucerne after finishing my school years. During this time my personal goal to design beautiful and meaningful products which can help people has been manifested. After an internship in Paris at the “Atelier Intégral”, I started my «Bachelor of the Arts in Interaction Design» at the institute of Interaction Design (IAD) at the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHDK). Together with my fellow student I launched the bachelor thesis which dealt with the question «How to motivate stroke patients in order to mobilize their impaired body side». Several interviews and observations with stroke patients have been made during this time.
After that I was attracted to learn how the job of an interaction designer looks like and therefore worked several years as an UX / interaction designer. In that time I collected experience working with user centered design processes for different types and sizes of projects / clients. My friend and I spoke often about the bachelor thesis „ArmCoach“ and therefor we invented the company name “yband” with its unique logo. Since we always received positive feedback, we were inquisitive to take the risk and to try to commercialize a product based on the insights of the ArmCoach and yband project. Looking for a business orientated co-founder I met Christoph Rickert with whom I dared to start the company. It became quickly clear that we could complement each other very well: Christoph with his medical device and management know how and I with my user centered design, interaction design and visual design experience. In July 2015, we incorporated yband therapy AG with the goal to develop and market a system for motivating stroke patients for their arm therapy.
In the last years I have worked at yband therapy AG to bring this product idea from my bachelor thesis to life. After several years of designing and developing the ARYS™ products, they are finally complete and successfully on the market. Since the company now strongly focuses on marketing and sales and the products are completed, I have decided to look for opportunities where I can work on challenging digital products and contributing my experience from the last years. I want to keep following my passion, which is making simple and understandable user interfaces and clean visual designs. Of course I’ll still be part of my company as a co-owner, but for working I’m looking for a place where my skills as a user experience designer are beneficial.
I love to plan an participate workshops and I´m a very team minded person who loves the exchange with others to solve challenging problems. I supervised customers in many projects to their satisfaction. If you're looking for an experienced UX / interaction designer with strong user empathy, high motivation and commitment please contact me.
